I have never been one to have a 5, 10 or 15 year plan. I have basically just thrown myself at stuff with wild abandon and just held on for the ride.
Now though, I can look back and it's made me realise how far i've come and in many ways, I wish I had plucked up the courage to have a) believed in myself and b) started sooner!
In the 23 out of 41 years of my life (excluding my teen years working in a cafe) I have been a travel agent, leisure receptionist, lifeguard, fitness instructor, leisure recruiter, mum, leisure ops manager, estate agent, personal trainer, yoga instructor and now studio owner.

The last 3 jobs all happened in the last 5 years....why did it take me so long to go from being in the fitness industry at the age of 22 as an instructor to actually taking the plunge to be a PT? A complete lack of self belief. I thought everyone was better than me. I couldn't possibly be good enough despite being told by my fitness manager to become a PT.
It took having kids and working jobs that worked around kids to realise I didn't want to spend the rest of my life doing jobs, frankly, I didn't want to do. It's taken me longer than most to realise my dream job, but I feel everything happens for a reason and at the right time.
I have faced plenty of challenges, from being a single mum of 2 boys to working through a pandemic to opening a studio in November (notoriously a unpredictable time due to the Christmas period) to having a hernia op and crashing a car. But, with amazing clients, the support of good friends, family, other influential people and my sheer bloody mindedness, I am going to be celebrating my first year of opening of my business.
In the last year, the studio has held workshops, retreats, 121 personal training and yoga sessions to being hired out for holistic therapies and filming. In turn, the studio has been consistently invested into, to offer more to clients, with more equipment, upgraded mats and a line of clothing as well as providing 24hr support to clients and a fitness and foodie forum that in turn has created a wonderful community of humans all striving to achieve improved wellbeing, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
I am so proud of what i have achieved in such a short time.
I didn't know what i wanted to "be" when I left school. I thought I was going to be a classical singer but you know, I lacked confidence. This is my new dream. I believed in myself and went for it! The one thing I always said to myself when I became a PT and set up my business..."The worst thing that can happen Mads, is you fail" ~"Worse would be not to try!"
So, I guess, i'm saying to anyone out there doubting their ability or the possibility of going for that dream job/business idea...how will you know unless you try?
This is what I say with my clients when they say they can't do something....well, how will you know unless you try? You know what...they try and try and try and unsurprisingly they realise THEY CAN!
I cannot wait to be welcoming my clients to my 1 year anniversary party in November.
In the meantime, if you have been on the fence, thinking about making the leap into taking care of yourself and finding a stronger, more flexible and happier you...now's the time to take advantage of my Anniversary Offer for New Clients November Only! Quote: Anniversary
